Thank you Wendy, I appreciate your kindness, I pray that we both gain the strength and courage to stand up for ourselves! I truly believe that will happen with faith, it’s never too late🤍💛
How cathartic! It's scary to be so vulnerable, so cheers to your bravery.
I'm guessing you're young (early 20s)? I'm not, but in my early 20s I could've written this nearly verbatim. So when I became a mom, I chose to be very different from my mom. And despite that, I assure you my kids (in their mid 20s) have a laundry list of ways I messed them up. I don't say that to diminish from your experience or feelings; I say that because I think most people will try to do things with their best intentions, their best efforts, even though those may be woefully inadequate or fall short. Everything you experience makes you who you are right now. For me, this kind of experience made me resilient AF. And let me tell you, resilience is one of the greatest tools you can develop! Growing takes effort—it's a process for a butterfly to emerge from its cocoon.
Thank you for your kind words! I’m 20 and yes, parents are human too and are bound to make mistakes, and that’s okay within reason. Things like culture within parenting are difficult to change and are a slow work in progress. Also I agree, negative experiences do build resilience which I am thankful for. Thank you for reding and lots of love x 🤍🤍🤍
Don't misunderstand me: Your parents are still responsible for their actions. We are undoubtedly affected by our upbringing, and you have already recognized so much at only 20 that surely that examination will serve to empower you in how you choose to act and move forward through life.
That's amazing and something of which you should be proud.
Good job!
Thank you 💕
Thank you for sharing🌞
This is something that I have also struggled with my entire life and it’s hard.
It gets easier but, especially the speaking up part, still seems foreign at times 🤨
Thank you for finding the courage to share such a very personal post.
Well done🌞
