Book Tok
Lock Every Door has been on my TBR list for longer than I can remember. With its neon pink and black cover. It’s memorable and pretty cool. During lockdown, I would save book recommendations from TikTok. There is always a sway towards hyped books, Some hit the spot, others not so much. As a new reader, I just wanted a good book regardless of whether it’s hyped or not.
Is it Worth the hype?
I do believe this book deserved the hype it got, purely because I enjoyed it:) Yes, that’s pretty biased of me, I’ll admit. But hey, it’s my book review and I cannot speak for anyone but myself. I am a sucker for a good thriller, anything that is catching my attention in all the right ways, making me sit at the edge of my seat, waiting, waiting, waiting for the bombshell to drop. I love it. And throw in interesting twists and turns, deceiving characters, and a creepy backstory. YES! I genuinely didn’t know what to expect from this book, in the best way ever. As someone who guesses things before they happen, I could not have guessed what was coming next.
Jules
Jules, our main character, was quite a likeable woman, stuck in tight circumstances, she just wanted a way out. Something many of us can relate to. I do understand why she decided to stay. She could be described as naive, but honestly, circumstances can make you desperate, which is what I think happened to Jules.
The Big Bad Bartholomew
I thought this building was creepy as hell from the minute I began reading. Even if you paid me 12,000 pounds, I would not stay, every night?? for 3 months?? Nope. Jules was desperate, and I don’t even blame her. In her situation, I would be doing the same thing. It's amazing how much freedom money can buy. The creepy history behind it had built up over quite a while. I guess the thriller/horror/mystery was typical in that sense, a haunted place. However, it had a great backstory. Thus, I have no complaints regarding the horror aspect. All the pieces of the puzzle came together brilliantly to execute the final stage.
Slight Improvements
It was interesting throughout, especially towards the end. However, I felt the ending was a little rushed. I believe it could’ve been executed a little cleaner. I won’t spoil anything. Would that stop me from recommending it? No, it wouldn’t. It was still worth reading, for sure.
So if you’re a fan of thriller/horror/mystery books about a young woman living in a creepy building, an opportunity of a lifetime. Investigating suspicious events, one after the other. That you can binge in 1 day? This is a great option for you:) Do let me know your thoughts in the comments if you have read it!!

Enjoy:)
I started reading this book a while ago, but sorta lost interest because the author wrote too many detailed descriptions of everything lol. And unfortunately I'm becoming someone who does not have the patience for that. However, I only read the first chapter or even less maybe. So I can't say that I've given it a fair chance. I will give it another try and let you know what I think!
